Castile and León activates civil protection plan for eclipse

The Castile and León Regional Government activated the Castile and León Civil Protection Plan (Plancal) at level 2 on Monday, 11 August 2026, in anticipation of the solar eclipse scheduled for Wednesday, 12 August. The operation also includes reinforcements for healthcare and emergency services, as well as communications. The Regional Government held meetings with the Association of Supermarkets in Castile and León and the food distribution sector to anticipate needs arising from the temporary population increase in certain municipalities.
The regional government recommends making journeys in advance and avoiding unnecessary movements during peak hours. The plan includes special attention to access and exit points of major observation areas, with traffic regulation measures and diversions when necessary.
